Things To Do With... Leftover Egg Yolks

    24/10/2012 by thebakingexplorer 3 Comments

Whenever I have leftover egg yolks left after making meringue, I feel bad about just throwing them away. I hate wasting food so I'm always on the look out for recipes that use only egg yolks. I've searched the internet for recipes using only egg yolks, and I've also made some too, and I've brought them all together on this page. I'm sure many bakers have been in this situation before, so hopefully this selection of recipes using leftover egg yolks will prove useful!

I have made Creme Brulee before. Have a look, if you've time at http://www.channel4.com/4food/recipes/chefs/eric-lanlard/mogador-recipe
I made this with the Creme Brulee inside and it is amazing, although mine did not look like the one in the photo!
Chocolate Caramel tart is definitely worth following up.

I`ve just recently taken up baking, I`m in my 80`which probably explains why i make the occasional mistake. Today i picked up the wrong bottle while baking a Vanilla loaf cake, instead of vanilla extract i put in salted caramel flavouring, the result was brilliant I ended up with a sea salted caramel loaf cake which turned out to be delicious,
