Nutella Rice Krispie Treats are an no bake recipe that comes together so quickly. You melt butter, Nutella and marshmallows together, stir them into rice cereal, then leave it to set and cool. I've added white chocolate and more Nutella on top for extra indulgence. Rice Krispie Treats are one of the easiest things to make when it comes to sweet treats. This is a UK recipe for an American favourite, so you may know them better as rice krispie squares. Either way, with lots of Nutella, it makes them even tastier!

How to make Nutella Rice Krispie Treats
In a large mixing bowl, weigh out the rice krispies and stir in the salt. In a pan on a low-medium heat, melt together the butter, Nutella and marshmallows. Do not let the mixture get too hot or come to the boil.
Pour the melted marshmallow mixture into the cereal and stir to fully coat it. Press the mixture into the tin in an even layer and leave to set. Once fully cool, pour over the melted white chocolate, then add spoonfuls of warmed Nutella. Swirl the Nutella into the white chocolate using a knife or a cocktail stick, then sprinkle chopped roasted hazelnuts all over. Once the chocolate is fully set, remove from the tin and slice into squares using a sharp knife.

Can you decorate the Nutella Rice Krispie Treats differently?
Yes, I used white chocolate but you could use milk or dark chocolate instead. You could also drizzle over some chocolate instead of doing a thick layer like I have.
How should you store Nutella Rice Krispie Treats?
They should be stored in an air tight container in a cool place, and they can last up to one week (in theory!).
What size tin do you need for this recipe?
I use an 9" (23cm) square tin for this recipe as I think it produces the perfect sized treats. A larger tin will work, but the treats will be thinner.
Who is this recipe suitable for?
You may not know, but most marshmallows contain beef or pork gelatine, which makes them unsuitable for vegetarians and vegans. However if you use gelatine free marshmallows like I have, then the recipe will be suitable for vegetarians. My favourite brand is Freedom Mallows, but there are now several gelatine free brands available such as Dandies and Free From Fellows. To make the recipe vegan, you will also need to use dairy free butter and dairy free white chocolate for the topping.

- Make sure to melt the butter and marshmallows together on a low-medium heat, cranking the heat up too high can result in hard Rice Krispie Treats.
- If your marshmallows don't melt, it is most likely because they are old and have dried out. Make sure to use a fresh pack for this recipe.

Nutella Rice Krispie Treats
Ingredients
For the rice krispie treats
- 200 g Rice cereal I used Rice Krispies
- ⅛ tsp Salt
- 100 g Butter unsalted
- 275 g White marshmallows gelatine free if serving to vegetarians
- 175 g Nutella
For decoration
- 300 g White chocolate melted
- 75 g Nutella
- 1-2 tbsp Chopped roasted hazelnuts
Instructions
- Line a 9" square tin with baking paper. I grease the tin first with a little butter to help the paper stick to it
- Weigh the rice cereal out into a large mixing bowl, add the salt and stir it in
- Put the butter, white marshmallows and Nutella into a pan on a low-medium heat and stir together until the ingredients are fully melted and combined together
- Pour the melted marshmallow mixture into the rice cereal and stir until the cereal is fully coated
- Press the mixture gently into the tin into an even layer, I use a silicone spatula to do this, then leave to set for 1 hour
- Melt the white chocolate, I do this in the microwave starting with a 30 second blast, stir it, then do 10 second blasts, stirring between each one, until melted. Pour it over the rice krispie treats. Warm the Nutella briefly in the microwave for 10-15 seconds, then add spoonfuls of it all over the white chocolate. Use a knife or a cocktail stick to swirl the Nutella into the white chocolate. Sprinkle the brushed chopped roasted hazelnuts all over, then set aside for the chocolate to set fully
- To serve, remove from the tin and cut into squares, store leftovers in an airtight container in a cool place for up to 1 week
